We wanted to update you on our trip to Seattle and the Pacific Northwest.  So last week we attended AEE’s Energy Management Congress in Seattle which was also our “official product release” of kW-Field, our data collection and management product http://www.kwhours.com/news.php.  We were selected to present at the new technologies breakfast and Colin did a great job.   Colin, Shobin, and Greg were so busy that they were barely able to leave the booth to check out the conference.  We pounded on the tablets, ran a million demos and we did not have one technical glitch.  A big thank you goes out to our development team for their incredible work.

I also wanted to share a few things that we heard at the conference, many of which were said several times:

“This is cool.  I have seen nothing else like this.  Everything else here is just a different version of something I already know about”
“Your product is the only thing worth seeing here.”
“We have thought we should build something like this for years.”
“Let me bring my boss’ boss over here to see this.” (two separate utilities sent more than 5 different folks to speak with us)

People who watched our demo sought out other people that they didn’t know.  Many folks were steered to us by others and told they had to come and check us out.  People who just met us were evangelizing the product for us.

I believed what we were doing was a smart solution to a real problem from the beginning, but I came away from the conference with a completely new understanding of how unique our product is.  This was awesome validation.  What we are working on is exciting to this industry and solves a real customer pain.  It couldn’t be more apparent.

Welcome to kWhOURS’ first blog post.

We have views and so do you!  We may not always be right, but the goal of our blog is to spark creative thinking in the energy auditing industry while continuously improving our product offering to better serve our customers.  We are excited to learn from you just as much as you are to learn from us.  We hope to keep you updated on our progress as we look to transform the commercial energy auditing industry.  There is a lot of talk about the Smart Grid, meter readers, and energy management software, but we are a BIG believer that none of these new tools will be able to replace the energy auditor.  In fact, we think that these devices make the auditor even more effective.

Our focus is simple: we aim to make commercial energy auditor’s lives better by providing mobile digital workflow automation tools that take out all of unnecessary manual and repetitive tasks involved in the audit.  Think about it: you are an auditor who has to collect data and manage that data in an effective way before you even begin analyzing it.  How do you do it now?  Manually?  We thought so.  Because you may have a different way to collect information and audit a building from the next auditor, we give you the flexibility to collect information in a way that you are used to and do not force you to do something that you are not accustomed to.  Oh by the way, we also maintain the granularity of the information and provide the data back to you in a format that is immediately actionable.  Not bad huh?
